Trinity Church Toyama’s first ever service was graced by only two members, Ptr. Nozomu and Dr. Shoko. Yet, in that humble space, the divine presence of angels and the radiant glory of God permeated every corner of the modest room. It was in this sacred moment that Ptr. Nozomu grasped the profound significance of having a sanctuary for worship.
Throughout their inaugural year, an aura of joy enveloped the space when a mere handful of up to ten people gathered for their services. The challenges of drawing in attendees did not waver their resolve to spread the Gospel.
Over the ensuing years, their congregation steadily swelled from ten to thirty, then to forty, and beyond. In a society where Christianity stood as a minority, the church flourished, evolving into a vibrant community of faithful believers eager to illuminate the world with God’s love, undeterred by the prejudice they encountered.
As the scripture declares, “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them” (Matthew 18:20), their growing congregation stands as a testament to the abiding presence of God in their midst.
