Persecuted Church Initiative

How can the global church learn not merely about persecuted Christians, but to stand alongside them?

Launched in response to the Fourth Lausanne Congress, the Lausanne Persecuted Church Initiative is helping the global church walk in unity with those suffering for Christ. According to the Open Doors World Watch List, 1 in 7 Christians worldwide face persecution, with some regions – such as parts of Africa – seeing rates as high as 1 in 5. Rooted in Scripture (1 Cor 12:26; Heb 13:3), the initiative equips leaders in hostile contexts, raises awareness, and emboldens gospel witness.

In 2025, regional online amplified local voices, highlighted regional realities, fostered collaboration, and deepened theological reflection on suffering. ‘Together, we will stand in prayer for the persecuted church, proclaiming resilience and hope amidst hostility.’
