The Lausanne Persecuted Church Initiative was an outcome of the Fourth Lausanne Congress in 2024 that spotlighted the persecuted church in sharing their suffering (1 Corinthians 12:26), upholding the global witness of Christ, entering into mutual partnership for standing shoulder to shoulder with those suffering for Christ (Hebrews 13:3) and fulfilling the call to be one church in declaring and displaying Christ together.
The initiative achieves its objectives through the following means:
- Publishing contextual materials on navigating persecution
- Amplifying local voices in addressing suffering for Christ
- Emboldening Christian witness in carrying out the Great Commission
- Providing practical assistance and raising awareness to advocate for the persecuted
- Promoting collaboration in serving the persecuted church worldwide
- Assisting theological institutions in offering modules on the theology of suffering
- Encouraging training programs in hostile contexts to equip gospel workers
- Organizing in-person and online gatherings
- Sharing stories of courage and resilience from persecuted contexts
- Collaborating with the Lausanne networks to fulfill Lausanne’s fourfold vision
- Engaging with the global church to pray for persecuted brothers and sisters
Through this initiative, the persecuted church in hostile contexts is strengthened in witnessing for Christ, and the work of global mission is propelled forward amidst suffering.
