Gathering

Filipino Diasporas and the Development of Diaspora Missiology

13 Jun 2026 Online

This gathering is the third session in the Global Diaspora Network series, focusing on the richness, challenges, and missional significance of Filipino diasporas in today’s global context. Continuing the conversation around diaspora missiology, this session will explore The Global Filipino Presence: Realities and Contextual Practices for Diaspora Missions.

The session will feature Dr. Terry Casino (ThD, PhD), Executive Director of the Doctor of Ministry Program and Professor of Missiology and Intercultural Studies at the School of Divinity at Gardner-Webb University (USA). Involved in diaspora missions since 1985, Dr. Casino brings extensive experience in theological education, leadership development, and intercultural mission across diverse global contexts, particularly in Asia. With longstanding engagement in the Lausanne Movement and international diaspora mission initiatives, he will offer valuable insights into the global Filipino presence and its implications for contemporary Christian mission.

This is a bilingual gathering (Portuguese and English), intentionally designed for oral-preference audiences—those who learn best through listening, dialogue, and shared stories. The session offers an accessible yet reflective space to explore key themes in diaspora missiology, including identity, intercultural dynamics, and the role of Filipino diaspora communities in global Christianity.

Whether you are a practitioner, student, or someone eager to learn more, you are warmly invited to join this conversation and become part of a growing global network.
