Creation Care and the Gospel Global Campaign

The Lausanne Creation Care Network is embarking on a multi-year campaign to jumpstart a global Creation Care movement within the evangelical community. This campaign will consist of up to nine regional conferences designed to help people in each region develop national creation care movements within their own countries.

The Goal

This campaign is designed to jumpstart a global Creation Care movement that is biblical, that strengthens churches, and that provides a model for wider society to learn from. The program will use the Lausanne Movement’s global network as a platform, and will proceed primarily by means of a number of regional conferences. Ultimately, we hope to see broad-based evangelical Creation Care movements in 10-15 countries around the world within the next several years.

The Partners

The Global Campaign is a partnership between Care of Creation Inc and A Rocha International working together under the umbrella of the Lausanne Creation Care Network. Each regional conference will also involve partners from the region, including regional and national evangelical alliances, churches, denominations, and evangelical institutions. If you represent a potential partner in one of the conference regions listed below, please contact us. We want to talk to you!

The Marks of a National Creation Care Movement

The national movements that result from this effort will be identified by the following general characteristics.  That is, we expect that they will transform the understanding of creation care within evangelical churches in their country in the following observable and measurable ways

  • They will self-identify as evangelical and/or will be seen to be working primarily within the evangelical community, with links to their national evangelical alliance or WEA associate group;[i]
  • They will enhance understanding of and action with regard to creation care within their national evangelical community, through promoting an environmental response that is marked by sound theology, good science, and practical engagement;
  • They will have visible and committed leadership, able to achieve a high profile for creation care within their national Christian media;
  • They will work in partnership with and draw support from a variety of organizations, institutions and denominations, including the majority of significant evangelical organizations and churches in their nation;
  • They will use locally appropriate strategies and locally produced resources, and ideally will be locally funded;
  • They will sponsor and promote ongoing programs of activities. These will vary according to national conditions and might include an annual creation care conference or convention, an annual ‘creation care Sunday’ with biblically-based resources for churches, campaigns to engage Christians on specific environmental issues, resources for small groups to engage in bible study, prayer and practical response.

Creation Care and the Gospel Conference Schedule

Conferences are being planned in the following regions between 2014 and 2016. If you have general questions about the campaign or when a conference might come to your region, please contact Lausanne Senior Associate Ed Brown. Otherwise, for information about a specific conference listed, click on the link for additional information and to reach the coordinator for that conference. Delegates or their sponsoring organizations will be expected to cover most of their travel and attendance costs, but in some cases a limited contribution to funding will be available for travel grants and to cover a portion of conference expenses.
