Rebecca Jowers
Rebecca is the founder and President of The Poiema Foundation, a non-profit that fights human trafficking. She remains the visionary of the organization’s approach to combating human trafficking, which includes educating the public, engaging communities to identify at-risk and missing youth, and empowering survivors through a long-term, trauma-informed residential program.
Rebecca Jowers received a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Texas at El Paso, where she graduated summa cum laude. She also holds a master’s degree from Dallas Theological Seminary and received the Howard Hendricks Award for the most excellent work in the area of Christian Education. Rebecca is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Educational Ministries at Dallas Seminary, where she serves as Dean of Women Students and Advisor to Women.
Before establishing the Poiema Foundation, Rebecca taught math and science in private and public schools and at the collegiate level. She and her husband, Raymond, recently celebrated 34 years of marriage, have four grown daughters, four sons-in-law, three grandsons, and are eagerly awaiting the birth of their fourth grandson.
