As chief information officer for the Seed Company, Shawn Ring oversees all of its technology. He has over 23 years of experience leading in ministry, technology, and business. He is a second-generation pastor with an undergraduate degree in information technologies and an MBA from American Intercontinental University. He has started, counseled, and overseen businesses and ministries located and serving in the United States, Fiji, Singapore, India, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, Mozambique, Israel, Mexico, and South Africa. He has served initiatives related to the Lausanne Movement, Global Day of Prayer, Global Inquiry, and Transform World.
Prior to joining the Seed Company, he served as an executive pastor at Gateway Church in Dallas, Texas, where he established Gateway Church’s digital ministries, which focus on equipping people in the areas of engagement, community, discipleship, and spiritual formation. Before his pastorate role, Shawn served as president and chief technology officer of Assemble Communications, a global VSAT and terrestrial wireless company focused on bringing the latest in technology and content to second- and third-world environments, working closely with the indigenous church and local businesses. Prior to that, Shawn served as president and chief technology officer of Integrity Online, the largest filtered internet service provider in the United States.
Shawn was technology chair for Lausanne’s 2004 Forum for World Evangelization in Pattaya, Thailand, and part of the technology planning group for Cape Town 2010. While he was executive pastor at Gateway Church, he hosted the first meeting of Lausanne’s reconstituted Technology Network in September of 2015 and served as a mentor at the 2016 Younger Leaders Gathering.
