Event Report
The Jose Zayas Evangelism International team brought 15 Americans to partner with a team of 20 Ugandan Christians on a “mission trip” to serve the churches of Western Uganda in strategic outreach. Scores of churches in Rukungiri partnered across denominational lines for a week of mission that included outreach to two prisons, a hospital and four local clinics, school assemblies, a business leader's dinner, radio preaching, and four nights of open-air festivals.
The population of the Rukungiri town and district is estimated at 40,000-60,000 people. More than 20,000 people attended the various mission events with 2,772 publicly responding to follow Christ. During the mission week, 500 leaders from the districts of Rukungiri and Kihihi gathered for a two-day conference on the important topic of “Making Disciples” and how to prepare their churches for post mission follow up.
Plans are already being made for another mission by the Jose Zayas team to the region in 2011.
