Catalyst for Business as Mission

Brazil

Since meeting Christ at age 16, João’s driving passion has been to glorify God by starting and leading anything that helps fulfill the Great Commission. At age 20, he co-founded an international church-planting organization that has planted over 4000 churches among unreached peoples. He is founding associate and Executive Director of BAM Global and has taught and trained on leadership, evangelism, missions, and business as mission (BAM) in nearly 60 countries. He has also helped catalyze the planting of new churches and new kingdom companies for and among unreached peoples in numerous countries, and serves variously as co-owner, board member, or advisor of several kingdom companies.

João (aka John) has served as co-author, contributor, and editorial team member of various books and encyclopedias, including the Lausanne Occasional Paper on Business as Mission, and the Evangelical Missiological Society’s book titled Business as Mission: From Impoverished to Empowered, the Encyclopedia of Christianity in the Global South, and the World Christian Encyclopedia. He teaches at several universities and holds degrees in sociology (BA), applied theology (MAR), intercultural studies (DIS) and religious studies (PhD), as well as specializations in entrepreneurship, human resource development, and cultural intelligence. He and his family live in Curitiba, Brazil.
