Position Summary

The Web Developer is responsible for designing, coding, and maintaining the lausanne.org website ensuring an exceptional user experience, and collaborating with cross-functional teams within Lausanne to support the broader Movement.

Lausanne recruits staff that have a strong active faith in Christ and see that everything they are involved in life is in some way a part of their overall ministry. This includes their “job”, whatever it is. Lausanne staff are parts of a puzzle that have many pieces, of which they are one. Their puzzle piece fits into the whole and it is this way that the Lord uses Lausanne to minister in the world. 

Functions and Responsibilities

  • Maintain a responsive, efficient, and visually appealing website and web applications.
  • In-depth knowledge of WordPress, including designing, developing, and maintaining WordPress sites. This involves ensuring optimal performance, security, and user experience, as well as customizing themes and plugins and troubleshooting issues effectively. 
  • Write clean, scalable, and efficient code using best practices (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, etc.).
  • Integrate and manage databases and back-end services.
  • Test and troubleshoot web applications to ensure optimal performance across various devices and browsers.
  • Implement security protocols to safeguard data and prevent potential vulnerabilities.
  • Optimize website performance, load speed, and SEO functionality.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest web development trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as operations and communications to ensure to work on special projects to meet the needs of their departments.
  • Ensure code quality through regular reviews, writing documentation, and maintaining version control (e.g., GitHub).
  • Responsible for analytics

Position Requirements 

Professional

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in web development, with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
  • Proficiency in front-end technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and modern JavaScript frameworks
  • Experience with back-end technologies like PHP.
  • Familiarity with web hosting and server management.
  • Knowledge of version control systems (GitHub).
  • Experience with responsive design techniques and mobile-first web development.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to troubleshoot issues.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of GDPR and cybersecurity best practices is an asset.
