Event Report

The purpose of this mission was two-fold: to equip the Iganga churches with the leadership skills and discipling capacity, and to preach the gospel to the residents and visitors of Iganga town. In addition to community wide rallies, a fantastic approach of “stratified” evangelism took place with civic leaders, in schools, hospitals, prisons, street marches and open-air meetings. Leaders from 50 Churches lead training in their congregations to prepare for the personal evangelism and for small group Bible study leaders for the new individuals joining their churches after the Mission.

In addition to the community wide rallies, 36 types of evangelistic meetings took place during the week with civic leaders, in schools, hospitals, prisons, street marches and open-air meetings. One afternoon evangelists became painters and painted the city block where the local police station was located. Local leader Geoffrey Byarugaba later said “as the painting was going on, sharing of the Gospel with the officers on duty that day was going on as well. Five police officers received Christ there and then and they became part of the harvest that afternoon. As the cream and black paint covered the ugly spots of the walls, the blood of Jesus washed away the ugly spots of sin of the five policemen that afternoon!”
