Joining Together in Prayer

11 Oct 2010

Prayer does not fit us for the greater work,
prayer is the greater work. –Oswald Chambers

Jesus saw prayer with his Heavenly Father as the most critical work of his incarnational mission. If you read through the Gospels, Jesus’ focus on prayer is without question.

So as representatives from every nation gather to embody the Church this coming week in Cape Town, South Africa, as believers gather at countless GlobaLink sites locally and as Christians connect via the many digital communities, prayer must be our highest priority.

To encourage you in your prayers for this critical milestone of the global Church, I recently asked our facebook community to share short prayers for the upcoming event. Please see all of them listed below.

But I beg you not to simply read these prayers. Instead, use them as prayer pointers in your own time with the Lord. And I encourage you to add your own prayers as comments to this post.

Let us join together to do “the greater work” of prayer!

  • Use this gathering to bless the nations!
  • Father, let these days result in greater fulfillment of your desire to have the knowledge of Your Son cover the earth like the waters cover the sea!
  • Lord Glorify YOUR Name in the whole WORLD, a WORLDWIDE praise to YOU OH LORD
  • Lord, break our hearts and make us humble in your presence, that we may not be driven by our ego and the need to defend academic differences, but that we may understand your will with simplicity and Glorify your Son through obedient and humble servitude.
  • Father, let this event be a turning point in the life of the church so that the world will know You!
  • Dear Lord, may your will be done may your Kingdom come in Cape town as it is in heaven, and may all who connect be driven to lift up their eyes and see the Savior Jesus and point to Him to all others who are connected to them : )
  • Lord, may your spirit be present during this event illuminating your word afresh, may your wisdom be found as we seek it in unity, may you steer and convict your people to more righteous discipleship, and may you inspire our imaginations with a new vision of your kingdom on this earth and how your church can make it a reality.
  • Father God we pray that For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
  • “Open the Eyes of our hearts, Lord. That we may have a spirit of wisdom and revelation to have strategy for a worldwide harvest…”
  • Lord, we pray for all the participants, their journeys back and forth to CT and that your spirit will reveal new insights of the cross!
  • Dear Lord, please be with each of our brothers and sisters as we prepare our hearts to be open and humble before you next week.
  • Almighty God, we ask you to bless the Chinese mainland people to be able to join us for the conference.
  • Lord, we pray that you would bring all the participants of CT2010 together safely in an attitude of humility and unity to seek your will in taking the whole gospel to the whole world.
  • Thanks for people taking a time to examine things in order to improve them for your glory. Help each one of us to do the same.
  • Heavenly father, unite us as your children though we have different cultures, colours and confessions, and show us YOUR way for YOUR mission now and in the future.
  • Lord of the Harvest…please use this holy assembly to awaken all of your church to the harvest yet to be accomplished in this world before the end comes!! Revive us and use us for Your purposes.
  • Lord, give us hearts that beat with the passion of your heart. Open our eyes to see the remaining task clearly.
  • praying for God's people as you all meet in His name to discuss and plan for the future of the Church. May the Lord give you His wisdom and grace to move forward to bless the world with His word
  • Lord I pray that this event will move all closer to you. Open our hearts to share your word and know your peace.
  • Lord Awaken your Church to the movement of your Spirit!!!
  • LORD may your will be done on earth as it is in heaven
  • Father, may the name of Jesus be exalted as we seek your face and pray for the advancement of your kingdom.
  • By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. Jn 13:35 Lord, may it be so. Amen.
  • “Shine, Jesus, shine” into the darkest corners of the world. May the world come to know you as the light of the world.
  • Jesus, I pray that everyone who steps foot on earth will accept you as their Lord and Savior. Praise God for the Lausanne Movement for helping make that happen. In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
  • Father, may your will be done at this conference.
  • I pray for the safety travel to all participants from all over the world. May Christ be a focus! Amen
  • Father, please make it possible for participants from sensitive locations to make it to the Congress and provide the needed finances for those who are still hoping to be able to attend and who in faith have purchased their plane tickets.
  • Dear father, revive us with your spirit and unite us to act according to your will. Amen
  • Our Father in Heaven, let “your” will be done in the convocation next week and on all over the earth always. Let your kingdom come in all it's glory.
  • Father, as you communicate clearly with your Son's beloved bride, may we hear you clearly and all that we do result in glory to your name!
  • Prayed for the conference.
  • Lord help us plant and mobilize the Whole Church to bring the Whole Gospel to the Whole World.
  • Father God your Spirit is moving in our midst, allow us to see Your Glory as we worship You.
  • God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.
