Becoming a Global Disciple

Friends Across Borders

About the Plan

In a divided world, friendship is a powerful witness.

Many of us naturally build relationships with people who are familiar to us: people who share our culture, language, background, life stage, theology, or way of seeing the world. Even in the church, we can remain in relational silos. We may worship near people from different cultures without truly knowing them. We may call believers from other backgrounds “brothers and sisters” without living as family.

But Jesus calls his people to something deeper.

The gospel creates one new humanity in Christ. It breaks down barriers of hostility and forms a global family of people who are no longer strangers or foreigners, but members of God’s household. If this is true, then friendship across cultural and ethnic lines is not just a social good. It is an expression of the gospel.

This four-day plan invites you to consider global friendship as part of discipleship and witness. Through Scripture, reflection, and prayer, you will be challenged to move from surface-level contact toward deeper relationships marked by love, humility, hospitality, and shared life.
