A Legacy of Transformation

How can a vision planted more than fifty years ago continue shaping leaders and communities today?

As a young man displaced by war, Arão Chau had a question burning in his heart: Can the Bible speak into national development? Years later, at seminary in Lubango (founded through the direct influence of the 1974 Lausanne Congress) his classes on integral mission gave him the tools to pursue community transformation.

Now president of the Association of Evangelical Graduates of Higher Education in Lubango, Arão named his daughter Lausanne in honour of its legacy. Speaking of the Movement, Arão says, ‘Lausanne is the greatest expression of God’s love from a practical perspective.’ Committed to mentoring others, Arão is living out a calling to see the Angolan church thrive, and be an agent of gospel-shaped social transformation.
