Tetsunao ‘Ted’ Yamamori

Dr Tetsunao Yamamori is president emeritus of Food for the Hungry International. He served FHI for 20 years, the last 17 as its president. He was international director of the Lausanne Movement from 2004-2006, and remains active today as a senior advisor. Currently he is a senior fellow of the Center for Religion and Civic Culture of the University of Southern California. He also serves as chair of the international board of advisors for two joint venture international universities: Pyongyang University of Science and Technology (North Korea) and Yanbian University of Science and Technology (China). Born and raised in Japan, he attended Nanzan University in Nagoya. He holds an MDiv from Texas Christian University and a PhD in sociology of religion from Duke University. Prior to joining FHI in 1981, he held various academic positions in several universities in the United States, the United Kingdom, China, and Japan. He has written and edited 25 books.
