Europe Pauses to Pray

What if renewed mission begins not with more activity, but with churches stopping long enough to pray?

Following the Fourth Lausanne Congress’s lead to give time to ‘pause together to observe the state of the church and the mission of the world,’ the Italian Evangelical Alliance encouraged its members to pause in prayerful reflection for the January 2026 Week of Prayer.

Robbert Jan Perk reflected that the ‘striking words’ from the alliance leadership ‘have moved me’, highlighting prayer as foundational for Christian life and witness. He also reminded believers that ‘The real challenge for Christians is not to do spiritual things, but to do things spiritually!’ Through Lausanne’s influence, churches across Europe paused before God together in renewed prayer, reflection, and spiritual attentiveness.
