Catalyst for Creation Care

Guatemala

Benita Simón Mendoza is an indigenous Mayan Kaqchikel woman. She feels called to address issues related to environmental restoration and youth work. She has facilitated workshops and training on environmental issues from and for different Christian organizations. Currently, Benita coordinates Rujotay—a local initiative in her hometown—where they develop contextualized environmental education projects, collective composting, local advocacy and family farming alternatives.

She shares her life with Jeison Rodriguez, and together with their little baby, they make community life in Guatemala.
