Key Concerns

Take a look at some of the key concern areas that we seek to address.

People are leaving their country of birth (either voluntarily or not) like never before.

There are approximately 500 million people living outside their countries of origin, and this number is on the rise.

Involuntarily disbursement may be to escape famine, wars, persecution, or other risks.

Global refugees are steadily on the rise with a current estimation of 90 million forcibly displaced people—this is an unprecedented humanitarian crisis.

Voluntarily migration may be for work or education opportunities.

Migrant workers constitute at least 5% of the global workforce.

4 million students have relocated to a new country to study.

Human movement is one of the defining issues of our time.

Core Ambition

How can we see God working with and through diaspora believers?

We want to see the global church empowered and responding effectively to the missional opportunities global migration and dispersion presents.

‘Now those who had been scattered by the persecution that broke out when Stephen was killed traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus and Antioch, spreading the word.’

Acts 11:19a

Take a moment to pray for a person you know who is a foreign national living in your community.

So what can we do?

Pray for diaspora people that you work with or whom you meet socially, and find ways to offer hospitality and community and to share the gospel.

Choose to be a mobilizer that empowers the church to minister effectively to, through and beyond people on the move.

3

Offer focused training in diaspora missiology that will produce leaders who are equipped for Spirit-filled engagement in a mission to and with dispersed people.

4

We can realise the vision of seeing people on the move as powerful agents of God’s transforming work in the world. We are better together!
