Position Summary

At the Lausanne Movement, we are passionate about accelerating global mission, and we are looking for a Chief Communications Officer to join our team of change-makers. 

The Chief Communications Officer (CCO) is responsible for developing and executing the Lausanne Movement’s communication strategy to effectively curate and promote our resources, build strong relationships with stakeholders, and support our strategic objectives couple with unique opportunities to create content that inspires and motivates people and organizations around the world to accelerate global mission together.

We are at the forefront of developing resources and catalyzing connections for the global church. This role intimately understands the heart of the Movement and is accountable for the organization’s overall communications strategy while also actively engaging with our audience and measuring front-line metrics.

The CCO will oversee all aspects of the Movement’s communications efforts, including marketing and creative services, ensuring that our messaging, branding and content accelerate with our mission and resonate with our audiences.

Functions and Responsibilities 

  • Communications Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy that aligns with and enriches the movement’s purpose, vision and goals, and enhances our presence within the global body of Christ while accelerating global mission.
  • Leadership: Lead and develop the communications team, including content creation/curation, gatherings’ communication needs, internal communications, social media, digital/web presence, and public relations while fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
  • Content Creation: Oversee the creation and distribution of high-quality content, including digital content, blogs, articles, newsletters, press releases, and speeches.
  • Internal Communications: Oversee internal communication initiatives to ensure clear, consistent, and effective messaging across all levels of the organization.
  • Brand Management: Ensure consistency in brand messaging and visual identity across all communication channels and materials.
  • Marketing and Creative Services: Shape the tone and visual design of content that is produced by the communications department.  
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including internal stakeholders and partner organizations.
  • Public Relations: Manage media relations, including building and maintaining relationships with key media outlets, handling press inquiries, and securing positive media coverage.
  • Analytics and Reporting: Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of communication strategies and initiatives, using metrics and feedback to continuously improve performance.

Position Requirements

Professional

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certification is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years in senior communications roles, with a proven track record in corporate communications, public relations, and media management. Experience in ministry or the non-profit sector preferred. 
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a communications team, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and execute strategic plans that support an organization’s objectives. 
  • Digital Proficiency: Experience with digital and social media platforms
  • Creativity: Ability to create compelling and persuasive content that engages various audiences.

  • Ability to interact sensitively with people from diverse Christian theological perspectives and cultural backgrounds within the global Body of Christ, under the common commitment of the Lausanne Covenant. 
  • A personal sense of commitment to the cause of accelerating global mission.

Travel 

  • This position requires international travel with approximately 5 – 7 trips per year.
